Jim Miller's Selections of the Day

Jim Miller’s Hawthorne Selections

Friday, January 11

Race 1

1st – #4 – Foo Foo Girl (Speed) – Between weather and lack of pace to challenge, it appears this one will take this race from start to finish.

2nd – #1 – Victory Rose (Presser) – With the rail draw and potential to show a little bit of speed, this one could be a factor later into the lane.

3rd – #5 – Angels N Boots (Stalker) – Not sure what to make of the debut race.  Moves back to dirt as she faces slightly easier.  Can improve in here.

Race 2

1st – #2 – Lee’s Luck (Speed) – With the shorter field and lack of early pace, he could control things the entire way around on the lead.

2nd – #5 – Empirestrikesagain.  Has a lot of back class and has raced well over this surface in the past.  Concern is the big class drop.

3rd – #6 – Chernyahovskiy (Stalker) – Ran an incredible race in last and could easily bounce off that performance.  Yet a repeat of the last puts him right there once again.

Race 3

1st – #2 – Miss Galilee (Speed) – Looks to take advantage of her speed and inside draw.  If she can clear she may never look back.

2nd – #9 – Miss Devine (Stalker) – Ran a strong race two back as she got a decent pace to chase.  Slow pace did her in last time out.

3rd – #8 – Mountain Momma (Presser) – Ran big efforts in each of her last couple.  Should rate close but isn’t likely to find the early lead in here.

Race 4

1st – #2 – Kyzan (Presser) – May be worth a look while at a decent price.  With the lack of early pace in here, he could steal this one.

2nd – #5 – G G’s Secondchance (Presser) – This is the other one who could show some speed.  Ran a big race off a slow pace in his last.

3rd – #9 – My Curby (Closer) – Looks to run on late and often gets into the mix in the lane.  Not a ton of pace upfront to close into in here.

Race 5

1st – #4 – Forgot to Forget (Speed) – Easily cleared in race here last week and never looked back.  There’s a chance he can repeat that performance today.

2nd – #9 – Ready to Fight (Presser) – Really curious about this one.  Took off front bandages prior to last and ran big race.  Keep an eye on him in the paddock.

3rd – #8 – Diamond Dave (Closer) – One that we won’t see a whole lot of early.  Has shown that he can run on well late though.

Race 6

1st – #3 – Konza Khrome (Presser) – Chased in last and really no excuse as he got first run on the winner off a slow pace.  Draws well again and should rate close.

2nd – #6 – Countess St Michel (Speed) – Looks to be the most likely one to clear the lead in here.  May shake loose early and never look back.

3rd – #10 – Dorothe Marie (Stalker) – Ran a big race in last as she closed off a slower pace upfront.  With outside draw in here she will have to work out a trip.

Race 7

1st – #7 – Enchanted Rambam (Stalker) – With what looks to be a good amount of early pace in here, things may set up for his solid closing kick.

2nd – #3 – Offlee Fun (Stalker) – Another that will likely be helped by the pace upfront.  Has been good over this track but distance leaves some concern.

3rd – #5 – Smooth Bob (Presser) – Has run decent races at this distance during his career.  Looks to rate close and hang around late.

Race 8

1st – #4 – Summer Disco (Closer) – Ran a big race in his last as he moved quickly on the turn and drew off late.  Helped by pace to chase today.

2nd – #6 – Hawk’s Image (Stalker) – Looks to rate in the second flight early and run on late.  Let’s see if he gets the jump on Summer Disco.

3rd – #7 – Wake Up Joe (Presser) – May be helped by the outside draw in here.  Will be able to settle off the pace battle and close into the lane.

Race 9

1st – #9 – Bob’s Mistress (Presser) – Makes a quick return off her last but was left to chase the lone pace in that spot.  Recent form has been solid in last couple.

2nd – #4 – Oriental Lady (Stalker) – Ran a nice race two back but was in a bit too tough in last.  Every right to improve on the class drop.

3rd - #8 – Rain Expression (Presser) – Runner-up efforts in last couple as she figures to chase the pace.  Looks to be a factor in all gimmicks.
