Ron Uchmanís Hawthorne analysis for Sunday, November 21

Race 1

OK, Iíll bite. 4-WINDY CITY GIRL is dropping in class despite finishing third to better in her last two starts. Granted, this is the time of the year when local turf horses are dropped since their connections would rather someone else paid the bills during the winter when we have no turf racing around here and we are running out of turf racing for the season. Not totally convinced sheíll be the best of these but she does look best on paper. 6-APRILíS GEM often displays a good late move. She beat top pick back in April but finished behind that rival since. They could duel down the stretch. 1-DREAMING OF PARIS could be the only one trying for the lead. If they leave her alone early she might have plenty left to hold off the closers.

Race 2

Looks like a wide-open race but 5-MIDNIGHT FROST might hold a slight edge. She ran in seven turf sprints and finished in the money in five of them. Sheís capable of racing well on or off the lead. Have to give 3-LONG TALL WOMAN a long second look. She looks like the best of the speed but she never raced on turf. 2-TORN JEANS turns back in distance. She tired in a route after leading from the start but she should have plenty left for the finish of this race.

Race 3

1-CLOSE TO ME barely won last at this level but win he did. He didnít get to the lead until late but that well-timed move gave him a popular victory. He faces some of the same rivals here. Might get the same kind of trip which could yield the same results. 6-CHAINMAIL made almost exactly the same move as top choice in last but that rival made the move just a little earlier and that could have made all the difference. This one finished three-quarters of a length behind. It could all come down to timing once again. 3-SATIATE led most of the way in last but the top pair both passed him late. He finished third but was over 11 lengths ahead of the runner than finished in fourth. These three might leave the rest of the field behind again.

Race 4

It is possible that 5-EMBARRASSING will lose this race but it doesnít seem likely. She finished ahead of most of this field in at least one of her last two races. Although he last victory was her first of the year she finished third in a tough stakes race in her prior start and she raced at the tough Indiana Grand meet for much of the summer. She seems to have only one real threat in this race. Can run by them all. 8-LAUNCH AWAY finished well behind top choice the last time they met but she did beat that rivals in a stakes race at AP earlier in the year. Donít like that itís been a month since her last race but she did have a couple drills since that start. Might be ready for a better effort today. The well-bred 7-SCARLETT LACE didnít show a thing in Florida or Kentucky to start her career but she was a sharp maiden winner in her local debut. Faces winners for the first time but I wouldnít count her out.

Race 5

5-KHOZYíS CROWN isnít in great form but she has been meeting a bit tougher than this group. There doesnít appear to be a lot of speed in this race but there might be enough to set things up for her. 10-I LOVE TO RACE finished in the money in four of her last five races. Logical favorite might get over the hump in this one. 4-LITTLEBITOFBLUSKYS just missed at this level when making her second local start. She was claimed from that race and starts for a different barn but keeps the pilot that has been riding her. Might get it done.

Race 6

7-DRAW THE LINE will try to take them late. Heís been in competitive form for awhile but does seem to be on top of his game lately. There should be more than enough speed to set up for him. Maybe. 3-SYMBOLIST could turn out to be the best of the speed. He wired the field in his local debut and came close to doing the same thing in last. Moves up in class but might still handle this field. 1-RULE FOLLOWER is another in good form. He scored in his last in Indiana, taking runners similar to these. Heíll always be close. Might edge by late.

Race 7

6-TIZ SUSAN ANN has been claimed from her last three races. Sheís been in good form for various barns but might be able to take it up a notch for this high-scoring outfit. Good speed will have her within striking distance from the start. 2-DANCIN AT MIDNIGHT meets open company for only the second time but she ran well in all of her starts and doesnít seem outgunned by this group. 1-ISABELLACANETELLA is very quick. Sheís not the same runner she was a couple years ago but if they let her alone early, there might be no catching her.

Race 8

2-PRESIDENT ELECT has a good chance of flying by late. There isnít a ton of speed to set up for him but this is the right distance for him and most in here tend to run out of gas late. 8-PEACOCK MAN does look like the best of the speed. He just missed at this level. Only concern is the longer distance of this. 4-ALLEGIANCE turns back in distance. Heís been tiring in routes but could finish with plenty left at this distance.
