Hawthorne to Offer Twist to Pick 6 for Fall Thoroughbred Meet
New Wagering Minimums Offered on Multi-Race Wagers
STICKNEY, IL – When live racing returns on Friday, October 3,
new wagers, and wagering minimums will be offered for many of the wagers at
Hawthorne Race Course. Hawthorne opens
the fall thoroughbred meet on Friday with a 1:45 PM post. With real dirt racing all meet and a turf
course expected to offer racing for the opening two months of the fall meet,
Hawthorne will be racing live every Wednesday through Saturday.
Many of the
wagers that Hawthorne has offered in the past will continue to be offered this
fall but with new minimums. With fields
of a minimum of six wagering interests, Hawthorne will be offering
Win-Place-Show, Exacta, Trifecta and Superfecta wagering on every race. The minimum Win-Place-Show wager is $1, along
with Exacta wagers. Takeout on WPS is only
17%, while Exacta takeout remains at 20.5%.
This fall, the minimum Trifecta and Superfecta wager has changed to
$.20. This allows patrons the
opportunity to use multiple horses in each wager along with the ability to make
multiple tickets for an affordable amount.
New this fall will be the Superfecta
carryover. If there are no winning
Superfecta wagers on a race, the entire net pool will carryover to the next
Superfecta race.
On all
cards with nine races or more daily, Hawthorne will offer the Place Pick 9
wager, along with a $.20 minimum wager amount.
The Place Pick 9 begins on race one and requires players to pick a horse
that finishes first or second in all nine races. On days where there is not a 9 of 9 winning
ticket, 80% of the net pool will be carried over to the next card’s pick 9.
Race one
will also kick off the Pick 5 wager. The
Pick 5 will also offer a $.20 minimum as fans try to select the winner of the
first five races on the card. On days
when there are no correct 5 of 5 winning tickets, 80% of the net pool will carryover to the next card’s Pick 5. The Pick 5 carries a low takeout of only 14%.
Every live racing day, Hawthorne
will be offering rolling Pick 3 and rolling Daily Double wagers. The Pick 3 will have a $.20 minimum while the
minimum Daily Double wager will remain $1.
As in the past, Hawthorne will be
offering an early and late Pick 4 wager.
Beginning on the second race and also covering the final four races on
the day’s card, the Pick 4 wagers will be $.20 minimum wagers beginning this
fall. The $.20 minimum allows for more
horses to be included in the wager, creating more combinations that fans can
play. Like the Place Pick 9, if there
are no winners of 4 of 4 on the Pick 4, 80% of the net pool will carry to the
next card’s Pick 4. The Early Pick 4 will carry to the next Early Pick 4 and
the Late Pick 4 to the next Late Pick 4.
The biggest
twist to the wagering lineup this fall at Hawthorne is the introduction of the
20 Cent Jackpot Pick 6. Covering the
final 6 races on every Hawthorne card, the Jackpot Pick 6 has the potential to
produce large carryovers as the meet progresses. To take down the entire Jackpot Pick 6 pool,
a player has to have the only winning ticket, correctly selecting the winner of
all six races on the same ticket. If
there is only one winning ticket in the Jackpot Pick 6, the winner takes the
entire pool. On days when there are
multiple winners or no winning tickets, 25% of the net wagering pool will be
carried over to the next wagering card while 75% of the net pool will be paid
out. This will allow for the carryover
to grow while still producing strong Pick 6 payouts daily.
Every
racing card will close with the Jackpot High 5 Wager. A wager that gained a lot of momentum when it
began last year, the Jackpot High 5 requires fans to select the first five
finishers in order in the final race of the wagering card. Like the other multi-horse wagers this fall
at Hawthorne, the Jackpot High 5 is also a $.20 minimum wager. On days when there are multiple winners, 25%
of the net wagering pool will be carried over to the next wagering card. On days when there are no winners, the entire
net pool will carryover.
Live racing
returns to Hawthorne on Friday, October 3 with the fall meet racing through
