Hawthorne Stable Notes for Wednesday, October 28, 2009

Another wet evening leads to another day off the turf for our Wednesday card.  Fortunately, we are supposed to have sunshine today and tomorrow, along with some wind. I am expecting a return to the turf for the Thursday races.  The main track is drying out quickly and will be fast for the nine race card.  Both Pick 4 wagers look to provide some value and we have carryovers in the Place Pick 9, Pick 6, and Hi-5 Wager.

Today we drew the fields for the Illinois Festival of Racing to take place on Saturday.  All of the races look to be very competitive and it looks to be a beautiful weekend.  We have a ten race card on Saturday with a first post of 1:20 PM and we will be offering rolling doubles all day long.

Race 3 - #1 – Hurricane Vamp – This is a very tough race, but I am fully expecting the inside to be quite good all day long.  Runners coming over to Hawthorne from Hoosier have fared quite well in the past and you will get a good look at a rider who could make a splash in Inosencio Diego in the saddle.

Race 8 - #2 – His Revalation – I would be very surprised if this runner is not claimed today as she looks to be in a good spot of a good maiden score.  She ran well in her debut and gets Lasix for this card.  She has a pair of works over the track and I am not worried about the slight layoff into today’s race.
