"Your Ticket to Winning"-Hawthorne's Opening Weekend

When live racing returns to Hawthorne Race Course on Friday, September 21, the Thoroughbreds will once again be the star of the show, but with “show” in mind, Hawthorne has created “Your Ticket to Winning,” a weekend of ticket giveaways, suited for all fans, from the casual to the serious horseplayer.

On opening day, get ready to be surprised when you place your bets.  More than 1000 prize tickets will randomly pop out as wagers are made, either through the windows or the automated wagering machines. You could win a buffet in the Gold Cup, souvenirs, fun food (you know what I mean)…and cash.

In addition, each paid admission will receive two free tickets for Gold Cup Day, Saturday, September 29.

Saturday, September 22, is Ticket Sweepstakes day. Dozens of pairs of tickets will be dispersed throughout the day to concerts like Van Halen and Sammy Hagar; Chicago sporting events for the Cubs, White Sox, Bears, and Fire; shows like Jersey Boys, and Blue Man Group; and travel, as in a trip for two to the Riu Palace Punta Cana.

Tickets are courtesy of Hotseats.com, Gold Coast Tickets and Apple Vacations.

If prizes don’t float your boat, maybe April, the 2007 Loop Rock Girl, will. She’ll be on hand, Saturday for a “meet and greet,” from 12-2pm.

Sunday, September 23, gets the horseplayer’s heart beating a little bit quicker. It’s your ticket to the Coast Casinos Horse Player World Series. The winner of this $5000 handicapping tournament will receive a free entry into the World Series plus $500 travel voucher, and $1000 cash!

Check in begins at 11:30am.  The contest begins at 1:35pm.

FYI: Last year’s winner of the Coast Casinos Horse Player World Series walked away with a cool $357,500! The entry fee for Sunday’s contest is…get ready…$20!
