What's This, a Frog Who Doesn't Like Mud?

FROG DOOLEY

For Friday, May 12, 2006
It was a messy night at Hawthorne on Thursday night as the sloppy track affected the outcome of several races. With the headwind in the stretch gusting up to 25 mph, the front-end and first-over were not the places to be. All the winners came from a covered up position as even the favored horses had a difficult time dealing with the conditions unless they got a favorable journey.

We began the evening watching our race two exacta finish out of contention. Our next bet came in race six and on that bet we scored on a $5 exacta play with Cole Swift and Joy Of The Sport that added $55 to our bankroll. In race eight, our straight wager on Falcatraz ended up in the trash basket as he stopped in the last 1/16th after looking like a winner. Our last play in race nine was washed out when Sporty Lola was scratched. All told, we wagered $90 and received a return of $55.

Original Bankroll: $2,000

Total Wagered: $778

Total Return: $834.80

Current Bankroll: $2,056.80 (thru Thursday, 5/11)

Race Two:   Big turnaround for Shadow Of Lighting in his last start when dropped to this level. Looks to be a major contender. Get Real impressive in all 3 lifetime starts. Should handle minor class advance. Let’s box these two in an exacta play.

$10 Exacta Box – Shadow Of Lighting (3) and Get Real (5): 3-5  5-3

Total Wager:  $20

Race Three:  Free going for her 5th victory in a row and has beaten most of these in that run. Bow Wow Wine looks to be a major threat with her big late kick. We’ll use both in exacta and trifecta plays.

$10 Exacta Box – Bow Wow Wine (1) and Free (2)    1-2  2-1

$2 Trifecta Key – Bow Wow Wine (1) and Free (2) on top with those two and No Bark All Bite (3) and Join The Party (4)    1-2 with 1-2-3-4

Total Wager:  $44

Race Seven:  Tropical Fantasy was parked a long way on opening night and was still right there at the wire. An easier trip makes him a winner. It’s a straight up play.

$20 Win & $20 Place on Tropical Fantasy (1)

Total Wager:  $40

Race Eight:   Street Dancer and Sherri On Ice were both impressive winners in their elim and figure to battle for the White Sox crown. Gro and Greek Wine also raced well in the elims and should be close in the end. Let’s key these four in an exacta.

$5 Exacta Key – Street Dancer (2) and Sherri On Ice (4) on top with themselves and Gro (3) and

Greek Wine (9) in the two hole.

$5 Exacta Box – Street Dancer (2) and Sherri On Ice (4)

Total Wager:  $40

Race Ten:  Coyote Quick moves inside and has just missed in this class in his last two starts. Bucky B Skipalong gets post relief and should have good striking position. Let’s box these two in an exacta.

$10 Exacta Box – Coyote Quick (1) and Bucky B Skipalong (2).

Total Wager:  $20

TOTAL WAGERED: $164
