State-bred Youngsters Take the Stage Saturday at Hawthorne

This Saturday, Illinois-bred two-year-olds will be the focus as sprinters take to the Hawthorne main track in the $100,000 added Sun Power Stakes for the boys and $100,000 added Showtime Deb Stakes for the girls.  With both races to be contested at six furlongs, the Sun Power drew a compact field of five and goes as race three while the Showtime Deb has a full field of 12 and will be run as race seven on the Saturday card.

The Sun Power Stakes is very competitive with a field of five to line up.  Drawing post two is the 9-5 morning line favorite Bad Boy Peter from the barn of Tom Swearingen.  Bad Boy Peter broke his maiden in his second career start, winning by six lengths over the Arlington polytrack.  He took on stakes company in his next start in the Prairie Gold Juvenile, running fourth after setting the early fractions.  He returned to the state-bred ranks as he was sent off as the favorite in the Troy Our Boy at Fairmount, setting the early fractions, only to be caught in the final strides.  Seth Martinez gets the call on Bad Boy Peter Saturday.

Second choice in the Sun Power is the one who caught Bad Boy Peter in the Troy Our Boy as Solar Flair is 2-1 in the morning line.  To be ridden by Rosemary Homeister, Jr. and trained by Jimmy DiVito, Solar Flair ran second to Bad Boy Peter in his career debut before breaking his maiden in his second career start.  Following the win in the Troy Our Boy, he showed speed before fading in the Grade 3 Bourbon at Keeneland on October 6.

Coming from the barn of Larry Rivelli is Rambling Richie with E.T. Baird in the saddle.  Rambling Richie showed good speed in his debut, only to be caught on the wire by Solar Flair.  He came back in his second start to win going away after showing good early speed.  The Sun Power will be the first time he faces winners. Rambling Richie is 3-1 in the morning line.

From the barn of Tom Amoss is Easy Soultion.  Breaking his maiden at Woodbine in his debut, he moved to Del Mar, running third against optional claiming company before running sixth against stakes runners on the grass.  Easy Solution will be ridden by Marlon St Julien and is 4-1 in the morning line.

Rounding out the field is the Steve Manley trained Hayq's Fable.  A winner in his second start, he closed to run fourth in the Troy Our Boy in his following start.  Hayq's Fable is 8-1 in the morning line and will be ridden by Rafael Hernandez.

A very competitive field of 12 lines up in the Showtime Deb stakes and is led by 4-1 morning line favorite Sasy Ms Elizabeth.  Trained by Leroy Hellman, Sasy Ms Elizabeth broke her maiden impressively in her second career start at Fairmount and came back to win going away while on the front end in the All Sold Out Stakes on September 10.  Sasy Ms Elizabeth will be ridden by Emanuel Cosme in the Showtime Deb.

Second choice at 9-2 is Cow Catcher.  Breaking her maiden for trainer Christine Janks in her second career start, she was claimed for $75,000 in her following start to the barn of Scott Becker.  Returning the state-bred company off that optional claiming allowance test, Cow Catcher will be ridden by Chris Emigh.

Church Road is the third choice in the Showtime Deb at 5-1 from the barn of trainer Steve Manley.  Adding blinkers for the Showtime Deb, Church Road broke her maiden against $35,000 maiden claimers in her second career start on July 4.  She followed that race by running third as the favorite in the All Sold Out before recently finishing second against $75,000 optional claiming allowance company in her last.  Rafael Hernandez has the call on Church Road.
