Frog Starts Meet With a Bang, Hopes for Super Sunday!

FROG DOOLEY

For Sunday, May 7, 2006

Original Bankroll: $2,000

Won Saturday: $296

Current Bankroll: $2,296

Opening night kicked started the bankroll, and tonight's card could put us into high gear.

Race One:†† Since I really ljke a pair of horses in the 2nd and 3rd races, letís key those two with four horses in the wide-open 1st race.

$5 Pick Three:† Joyous Classic, Parklane Powerful, Taylor Wailer and Sightings in the 1st with

Victorís Pursuit in the 2nd and Fantasticcamtasic in the 3rd.3,4,5,6 with 4 with 3.

Total Wager:† $20

Race Two:† Victorís Pursuit displayed a dominating performance last week in the Open Trot at Balmoral. Trained by Roger Welch, the 4-year-old daughter of Valley Victor, came first over and drew away under wraps for an easy score. Tonight she actually faces a softer group and she should have no problem returning to the winnerís circle.

$20 Win & $20 Place on Victorís Pursuit. (4)

$2 Trifecta Key: Victorís Pursuit on top with the #1 entry, Stanmax Rose and Trendy Girl.

4 with 1-6-7.

Total Wager:† $52

Race Three:Last week Fantasticcamtasic came up with a big victory in his first start off the claim by trainer David Brooks, The Camtastic gelding is right back in the same class tonight and a repeat of that effort will make him a winner again.

$20 Win & $20 Place on Fantasticcamtastic. (3)
Total Wager:† $40

Race Five:† Village Raider N looked his old self last week as this tough veteran pacer flashed good form after several sub-par performances. The Paul Blumenfeld trainee moves up one notch for tonightís test but a repeat of that last effort can best these.

$20 Win & $20 Place on Village Raider N. (7).

Total Wager:† $40

Race Nine:Off two narrow defeats, Ericasmissamerica figures to be the post time favorite and the horse to beat. However, I really expect a big effort from first-time starter Scandally Clad with

Todd Warren in the sulky for trainer Brett Wilfong, so letís box those two in an exacta.

$10 Exacta Box:Ericasmissamerica and Scandally Clad. 4-7, 7-4

Total Wager:$20

TOTAL WAGERED: $172

FROG RESULTS DAY ONE

Day 1 Ė Saturday, May 6

Frog started out the meet with bang as in the 1st race as Street Dancer ($3.20) was an easy winner as the prohibitive favorite. That keyed a modest $22.00 trifecta for us when Greek Wine and Devon On The Beach finished 2-3. When Seelster Score N ($19.40) tallied in the 2nd race at 8-1, that produced a $27.60 double and our $10 double play on the combination of Street Dancer and Seelster Score N added $138 to our wallet. Even better, when Sherri On Ice ($3.60) came home victorious in the 3rd, the $2 pick three paid $45.60 and added $114 to our bankroll on our $5 pick three play. We wagered $66 and put $274 in our pocket. This was an excellent example on how you can make a nice score using a pair of heavy chalks.

Our next play came in race 4 and Cheyenne Bodie (7-5) fought gamely for us right down to the wire but was upset by railsplitter Snuff Box and finished 2nd in a valiant effort. I still think he will be the horse to beat in the final of the Cubs Pace. Our $20 place wager gave us a return of $36.

In race 5, Odds On B P put away even money favorite Fox Valley Tribal at the 1/8th pole and we cashed on our $20 and $20 play. The result was a $92 payoff. Both Odds On BP and Fox Valley Tribal raced very well and they should give Cheyenne Bodie a run for the money in next weekís final.

The last play of the night came in the 9th race, the $21,500 Free For All Pace. Todd Warren whisked Yukon Cornelius ($5.60) right to the top and for all practical purposes, the race was over. The 7 year-old gelding strode away to a 5 length victory and our $20 and $20 wager added $90 to our bankroll and completed a great opening night for everyone following the Frog.

The bottom line for the evening was $198 wagered with a total return of $492 for a profit of $ 296. Letís hope we can have several nights like we had on this opening night.

Original Bankroll: $2,000

Current Bankroll: $2,296

The Way They Raced

On the opening night the front end held up fairly well, just as we projected, and all the winners except Gangsta Rap in the 8th came from no worse than a couple of lengths off at the head of the lane. Interestingly enough, on Saturday, the best place on the track to be was first-over in lane two as several winners scored from that position, and I'm guessing that the trend will continue for at least a couple more nights, so let's watch it closely.

Itís another exciting harness season at Hawthorne and that means, of course, another season of cashing winning tickets with Frog Dooley, Chicagoís NumberOne harness handicapper. For the past 14 seasons, Frog Dooley has given Chicago harness fans documented, winning selections and in 12 of those years, the Frog has turned a profit for his loyal followers.

The main difference between the Frog and all of the other fine Chicago harness handicappers is that, ďthe Frog puts his money where his mouth isĒ!† For the past three seasons and previous to that in Midwest Harness Horse magazine, Frog has documented his selections and wagers for all to see and over that time Frog has averaged a profit of over $1,150 a year.

Once again, Frog will start out with a mythical bankroll of $2,000. His daily wagers will be presented in this column and his bankroll will be updated in each program. Can the Frog continue his amazing streak and keep his loyal followers in the plus column?

Itís great to be back at Hawthorne, Chicago finest harness racing facility. Letís enjoy the time we have here because itís only six weeks and it will go by very fast. Historically at Hawthorne, for the first few days of the meet, the front end usually holds up very well, so we should concentrate on horses that will be fairly close to at the top of the lane. Letís dive right in, the water is great!
