When do you have live racing?
Hawthorne Race Course will host live racing beginning Thursday, October 1, 2009 – December 31, 2009. We will have our 2010 live racing scheduled posted at the end of September. Please click here for our 2009 schedule. We are also open 7 days a week year round for simulcasting.

Where can I park?

I want to decorate for my event, what are your policies?
We want your event at Hawthorne Race Course to be an experience! Please talk with your Sales Representative on how to add decorations to your event, from flowers; to props we are here to make your day a great memory, your meeting a success and your social event one for the books! Please note that balloons, flags and projectiles are not allowed without permission from Hawthorne Race Course Sales Office. Such items will interfere with live horseracing and guests of Hawthorne, and therefore must be regulated.
Spending the Night in the Area?
If you plan to spend the night near Hawthorne Race Course, please ask one of our sales staff for a hotel recommendation.
Do you have an ATM?
Automated Teller Machines (ATM’s) are located in various locations of the Venue, and guests will be directed to their location.
Do you have Elevators and Escalators?
Elevators and escalators are located throughout the venue to reach different levels. Security and staff members can assist guests with their locations. There is signage also indicating their location.
Where are your restrooms?
Restrooms are located on all floors throughout the venue.
Handicapped Accessibility and Wheelchair Assistance
Parking spaces are indicated as required by law and are available outside three main entrances. Handicapped guests are allowed to be dropped off at main entrance doors and are welcome to wait for their driver as they park their auto. We provide wheelchair service to and from the entrance gates to the guest’s seat. We do not provide wheelchairs for guests to use during their stay with us. Hawthorne Race Course has seating is available on all floors and designated by the event you are attending. All floors are accessed by elevator and wheelchair accessible, with exception of our VIP Suite. Hawthorne does have wheelchairs available upon emergency needs; however there are no wheelchairs for rent or use for the day by any guests attending an event at Hawthorne Race Course.
In compliance with the Smoke-Free Illinois Act 95-0017, effective January 1, 2008, smoking at Hawthorne Race Course is prohibited indoors, in any tented areas and as well as within 15 ft. of any entrance. Smoking is permitted on the Apron. We do have outside access on most levels with designated smoking areas. No Smoking rules are strongly enforced by Hawthorne Race Course, and guests will be fined accordingly if violating such rules.
Can I bring my camera?
Cameras are not allowed at Hawthorne Race Course for live horseracing events. Restrictions on cameras for special events may apply. Please check with your Group Sales Representative.
I want to conduct Advertising and Promotions how do I do this?
Hawthorne does not allow usage of their name or logo by others without written permission. Promoters are not allowed to create any marketing or solicitation materials for their events being held at the venue without Hawthorne’s approval of such materials. No printed materials may be posted or distributed in any part of the venue, indoors or outdoors, without permission from Hawthorne. Fees will apply for this service.
I want to conduct Soliciting / Sampling at Hawthorne, can I?
Absolutely no soliciting or sampling is allowed without permission of the sales office. Any such person(s) caught doing so without such permission will be removed from the property and fined. There are village laws that must be enforced for some types of soliciting or sampling.
Can I post a message on your outdoor Marquee, how do I do this?
Hawthorne owns a marquee on Laramie Avenue and Cicero Avenue, and no items, events or messages may be posted on such marquees without Hawthorne permission. Fees will apply for this service.
Alcoholic Beverages and Illegal Drugs
Above are strictly prohibited from being brought onto or into Hawthorne properties. All guests violating this rule will be prosecuted to the full extent of the law and banned from the premises on a permanent basis. Hawthorne does sell alcoholic beverages to guests, per the regulations of their State of Illinois Liquor Licensing, and all laws pertaining.
Bag / Purse / Stroller Search
Guests and their belongings may be searched upon entry of Hawthorne property. If you decline consent to the search, you will not be allowed to enter Hawthorne property.
Conduct
Proper behavior of guests is expected. Adult guests are required to enforce proper behavior of minors they bring into the property. Unruly and inconsiderate behavior may result in your removal from the property, and removal may be a permanent ruling.
Bicycles
Designated parking spaces for bicycles are enforced. Parking attendants will designate such spaces.
Concessions
Post Time Catering has concessions and bars throughout the venue. Security and staff members can assist guests with their locations. Signage is also posted indicating their locations.
Emergencies
Should you need immediate assistance, please notify the nearest security or staff member. If you are near a house phone, you may dial extension 3656 for immediate assistance. Please do not call 911. Hawthorne’s Security Director will contact proper and immediate assistance.
Evacuation
In case of need of immediate evacuation, the guests will be given instruction through our public address system. Please note all exits near your location.
Facility Management
Hawthorne Race Course is fully staffed at all times during business hours. Staff is available to address issues that arise. Staff and security are identified by Hawthorne credentials.
Firearms / Fireworks / Knives
These items are absolutely prohibited on Hawthorne property and surrounding areas. Any persons caught with such items will prosecuted by law to the fullest extent. Such person will not be allowed on Hawthorne property on a permanent basis.
First Aid / Medical Service
First aide is located onsite. Should you need immediate assistance, please notify the nearest Security or staff member. If you are near a house phone, you may dial extension 3656 for immediate assistance. Please do not call 911. Hawthorne’s Security Director will contact proper and immediate assistance.

The following items are absolutely prohibited from special events, and permission must be given during live horseracing events for a limited number of items below: - Alcoholic beverages

- Bags or Purses larger than 12 x 12 x 12
- Balloons
- Beach Balls
- Cameras
- Cans, Bottles or any other beverage containers
- Confetti
- Coolers
- Firearms / Weapons / Knives, etc
- Fireworks
- Hand-outs
- Ice Chests / Bags
- Illegal Drugs
- Laser pens and pointers
- Lawn Chairs or other furniture items
- Miscellaneous items considered dangerous or prohibited by Hawthorne
- Noise Making devices (such as horns, whistles, etc)
- Signage
- Strollers
- Umbrellas
Security staff is on duty 24 hours a day / 7 days per week at Hawthorne. The Security offices, both inside the venue and the outdoor security office, is manned at all times. Security staff is located throughout all floors during all events. You may contact them via a house phone at ext 3656 or call directly at 708-780-3700 ext 3656.
Trespassing
Guests are allowed in designated areas of the property, based on event attending. There are admission booths located at all public entrances, and tickets will be required for guests to enter. Any guest trying to enter such areas without proper ticketing will not be allowed to enter. Any guests trying to enter restricted areas without proper credentials and permission will be removed and prosecuted to the full extent of the law.
